No such human pursuit has seen such a meteoric rise and subsequent fall from grace as smoking. The unit began by researching the decorative cigarette cards smokers would collect in their favourite brands. These cards were artistically fascinating, and I particularly liked the designs with art nouveau influences. With “vaping” now surpassing smoking in contemporary life, but also suffering similar bad press, I was keen to develop images that lent on these varying influences. During the 15 hour final outcome, I created a contemporary satirical vape card that was 3 feet wide and 8 feet long.
